Feeling Blue in Singapore at the Marina Bay Sands
I had heard good things about Singapore: a safe city, easy to access, lots to do. When my favorite souvenir was confiscated in Singapore (I didn't have a weapons permit for my several hour layover, 'entering' Singapore to switch airlines), I vowed to return on another trip, if only to retrieve my sword.
On the way back from Vietnam I stopped in Singapore for several days. While one of the highlights was retrieving my sword, I did enjoy the city of Singapore. The transportation is fantastic - you can take a train directly in from the airport, and the subway system is well connected throughout the city. There's a decent amount of cultural variety (I may have enjoyed shopping in the India district!) and the botanical gardens were fantastic.
I'll be back someday, but I'll leave my Indonesian sword (actually a blunt machete) at home.
